My wife has end stage Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) reducing the kidney function to a level that barely sustains her. The immediate options are transplant and dialysis. We are registered/on the waiting list at two transplant centers but the waiting time for a cadaver is measured in years. The best option is to receive a kidney from a live donor. Dialysis is an option of last resort as it tends to shorten the life of any transplant. I have volunteered to donate one of my kidneys but she is type O and I am type A. Some transplant centers have begun to manage such transplants but only for a specific donor subtype and I am being screened. Another option is to pair with a complementary couple with whom we can exchange kidneys–my A for another donor O. I seeking either Good Samaritan donors or a complemetary couple–a donor type O and a recipient type A.
